Highlighted ‘Nusantara’ Dishes To Try in Bamboo Restaurant, Puncak
Puncak is a popular tourist destination located in the highlands of Java, Indonesia. Here visitors can enjoy stunning views of the nearby mountains and forests, as well as indulge in some delicious food at one of the many restaurants found in this area. If you’re looking for an exquisite dining experience in Puncak, The Bamboo Restaurant is one such establishment.
Located in Novus Giri Resort, Bamboo Restaurant takes pride in serving authentic dishes inspired by iconic cuisines across the Indonesian archipelago. All ingredients are sourced locally from around the Puncak region to ensure that everything served is as fresh as they get.
Today we’ll be highlighting three of the most popular dishes that are sure to whet your appetite.
1. Bebek Tepi Langit
You might have heard of the famous ‘Bebek Tepi Sawah’ from Bali, but we can guarantee that you’ve probably
never tasted ‘Bebek Tepi Langit’ before. This is Bamboo Restaurant's signature dish featuring crispy duck
served with crumbles that are infused with Indonesia’s aromatic spices. The duck is well-marinated and
tender, and the accompanying sambal complements the dish promising to send one to seventh heaven after just
one bite.
2. Pa’piong Ayam Bakar
A typical celebratory dish for the Torajan tribes, Pa’piong is a traditional cooking technique that involves
stuffing meat into a bamboo tube before it’s grilled at a 45 degrees angle over an open fire. This style of
cooking requires skills and perfectly blended spices to create a balanced taste. Indulge in Bamboo
Restaurant’s grilled chicken cooked Pa’piong-style, and experience a slice of Indonesia at the tip of your
tongue.
3. Gurame Nyat-Nyat
If you’ve been to the Kintamani region in Bali, chances are you’ll find this dish in restaurants or eateries
in the area. Iconic to Bali, this seafood dish typically uses 'mujair' (tilapia) as the main ingredient. At
Bamboo Restaurant, however, the 'mujair' is replaced by locally-sourced freshwater gourami that’s been
cleverly made into a delicious Nyat-Nyat. The myriad of rich spices and herbs like ginger, galangal, nutmeg,
candlenut, and turmeric, elevates the dish so that one can taste the multi-dimensional flavors that are
spicy, sour, and savory all at once - giving this dish its unique taste.
